A few days later, Xi Huai's group came to the Yu Chong School again, but they couldn't find head nor tail of Chi Muyao.

The little disciples of the Yu Chong School were used to these demonic faction disciples coming over now. Their fear gradually lessened as they learned that the trio wouldn't hurt them.

One little disciple took the time to give them directions. "Little Shidi and Shijie are farming in the fields."

This made Xi Huai frown again. "You even have to farm?"

The little disciple, "That's right. Little Shidi likes planting all sorts of flowers and plants the best."

Zong Sichen reached over to grab Xi Huai's arm.

Song Weiyue moved to stand in front of Xi Huai.

Neither wanted to see the wondrous sight of the Young Sect Master tending to the fields. The sight would be mentally scarring in large doses.

In the end, the two were still dragged by Xi Huai to the fields.

Farming in the cultivation world was different from that in the mortal realm.

Chi Muyao and the other disciples used the Control Object Technique together to carefully plant the rice seedlings into the ground and cover them with soil.

There was also a red fox running around in the muddy fields, occasionally jumping up to slap a yellow oriole. Since it has already become a muddy fox, it could be used to turn the soil.

The Control Object Technique required the use of spiritual energy, which none of the Yu Chong School disciples had in abundance. Yi Qianxi was the only exception. Even Chi Muyao had to take breaks while working.

Xi Huai's group came and stood beside Chi Muyao. He leaned down slightly.

Chi Muyao was resting cross-legged on a stone with a cup of tea in his hands, seemingly very comfortable. When he noticed someone approaching, he turned and was startled by the dark red dragon horns that caught his eye first.

On the contrary, he actually breathed a sigh of relief when he realised it was Xi Huai. "How long are you guys going to hide in Pu He for?"

"We'll leave at the end of the month.”

"Meaning you'll stay here for ten more days.”

"En.”

"Are you going back to the Qing Ze Sect?"

“I'll go back and form my core before coming to find you again.”

Chi Muyao was suddenly silent.

Although he had a chance at breaking through to the Golden Core stage after obtaining the Goldeneyed Heavenly Wolf's devil core, he still struggled to make much progress. He didn't have a pill that could help even now.

But to Xi Huai, core formation was very simple. It sounded like he could just go back, enter closed door cultivation for a while, pass the tribulation and change clothes before coming back to find him.

How nice.

Yi Qianxi was also tired. She stretched her waist as she came over to Chi Muyao and said, "Shidi, I'm tired too. It's your turn.”

"En, okay." Chi Muyao set down his tea cup and took out a new one to pour Yi Qianxi a cup of tea. Then he headed over to the fields and made the appropriate hand signs to start planting rice.

Xi Huai followed him over and pointed to the bamboo basket set to one side. "You just need to plant all those seedlings, right?"

"En.”

Xi Huai pointed a finger at the bamboo basket, sending the dozen or so seedlings inside into the air.

Next, these seedlings plunged into the field like daggers, their movements fast and precise. It was almost like he was tossing several hundred concealed weapons instead of planting rice.

Chi Muyao: "..."

He put his hands on his waist, looking between Xi Huai and the fields with a somewhat fierce expression.

Xi Huai was very puzzled. Why did he seem angry instead of praising him?

"Are you trying to kill the seedlings? Also, your aim was way off!"

"My aim was way off?"

"Yes!"

"How is it off?"

"Look at how crooked they all are! Not one was planted properly, and they'll all be dead in two days!"

Xi Huai leaned over for a look. He was still disgruntled. " They're all planted, aren't they?"

Chi Muyao could only use the Control Object Technique to adjust them. After finding his Control Object Technique lacking, he decided to take off his boots and make manual adjustments in the fields

Xi Huai turned to look at his two good friends then. The duo quickly helped Yi Qianxi up and beckoned the other disciples to leave with them.

The muddy fox was smart enough to scamper after its master.

Thus, only the two of them and a yellow oriole were left in the fields.

Chi Muyao didn't care too much as he went into the mud barefoot. He explained to Xi Huai as he leaned down to straighten the rice seedlings, "See? You need to plant it like this so the roots go into the soil."

Xi Huai stood to the side and watched. His gaze swept across Chi Muyao's calf.

The legs of Chi Muyao's trousers had been rolled up. His skin was so fair that it seemed out of this world.

The mud sticking to the calf formed an extreme contrast with his fair skin. When walking, you could see his slender and delicate feet, which seemed to perfectly fit in your hands.

Chi Muyao suddenly came back to his senses after adjusting a few seedlings. He muttered, "What am I teaching you this for..."

Xi Huai didn't know how to help productively at all. What was he hoping to accomplish by teaching the Qing Ze Sect's Young Sect Master how to farm? Him leading the other demonic faction disciples and striking it rich this way?

Who would've expected Xi Huai to take off his boots and walk over? He leaned down and righted one of the seedlings. "Like this?"

Chi Muyao tilted his head. "En. Like that.”

Xi Huai could've done this using the Control Object Technique. There was no need for him to personally join Chi Muyao in the fields. Yet instead of doing that, Xi Huai seemed very interested and accompanied Chi Muyao to work in the fields all morning.

Qiuqiu seemed to enjoy such an atmosphere. It cycled between landing on Chi Muyao's head, Xi Huai's shoulder, and crying 'qiu qiu' as it circled through the air.

After planting the entire few acres, Chi Muyao didn't use the Simple Washing Technique to clean himself. Instead, he used the Control Object Technique to pick up his boots and ran off in one direction. He called out to Xi Huai, "Come with me."

Xi Huai followed Chi Muyao, using the Control Object Technique to grab his boots.

Pu He had beautiful mountains and clear lakes. The water quality here was exceptional.

Not only was the island surrounded by water, there were small streams on the island itself, which flowed quietly downwards around groups of trees.

The leaves on the branches pressed into the water were plump. The branches miraculously managed to subtly integrate with the plants in the water, maintaining the harmony of the scene.

Chi Muyao came to sit by the small stream and put his feet into the water to wash. After sitting down, he would lean forward and stare at the ripples of the stream flowing past his feet.

Xi Huai sat beside him and put his feet into the stream too. He controlled a stream of water to come to him so he could wash his hands.

Before the water could disperse, Chi Muyao reached over and washed his hands too.

The crystal clear water shone brightly under the sunlight, enveloping this pair of slender hands like a catkin. Somehow, even him washing his hands became exceptionally beautiful.

After washing his hands, Chi Muyao stared at the water for a while before pointing to a spot.  "See that? That's the Biqiong Carp taking its offspring to forage. This type of fish is very interesting. See how it has two pairs of tail fins? Actually, the female fish is hiding under the male fish's body. After the female fish lays eggs, their care is left to the male fish, which has to care for its mate at the same time. How loving."

"Oh..." Xi Huai was not interested in fish.

"The water's a bit cold." Chi Muyao wanted to retract his feet. After thinking about it, he touched Xi Huai's feet with his feet. "Aren't your feet cold at all?"

Delicate streams of water flowed between the feet of the two people, leaving a soft, cool touch after they had touched.

As expected, Xi Huai's feet were really hot. The cool water wouldn't change that.

He touched it briefly before retracting his feet.

If Chi Muyao hadn't touched Xi Huai, Xi Huai would've only glanced at him occasionally. But his touch was like a spark, instantly engulfing the prairie in fire. Xi Huai couldn't resist simply grabbing Chi Muyao's foot with his hand.

Chi Muyao was scared silly by Xi Huai's action. He hurriedly struggled to withdraw his foot.  "L-let go!"

As expected of Xi Huai, he could remain justified even when being a hooligan. "I'll help you warm up.”

"No need!"

Unfortunately, Xi Huai refused to let go. He carefully examined the foot he held like it was an amusing toy.

Chi Muyao flushed red and quickly glanced around to see if they were alone.

After confirming no one else was here, he simply gathered his strength and kicked Xi Huai. Unfortunately, this launched him into Xi Huai's arms, and Xi Huai still refused to let his foot go.

Xi Huai had endured for three years in the cave.

In those three years, he's always wanted to touch A-Jiu. Anywhere was fine, as long as he could.

He was curious about the temperature of A-Jiu's body, what A-Jiu's skin felt like, basically everything there was to know about A-Jiu.

He wanted to break free of those shackles and do many things to A-Jiu. Wanton, carefree things…no matter what.

Now, with Chi Muyao sitting right beside him. He wanted to touch even his feet.

Unfortunately, Chi Muyao was struggling so hard that he was afraid of hurting him. Xi Huai could only let go.

Chi Muyao quickly got up and put on his socks and boots. Then he hurried off.

Xi Huai didn't mind that. He got up, put on his boots and leisurely trailed behind him.

Chi Muyao walked furiously in front, the wind whipping up his long hair and sleeves.

Xi Huai followed behind him, maintaining a two step distance. He stared at Chi Muyao's back with slightly raised lips.

Above them was an azure sky with wispy clouds. Warm and genial sunshine shone down on them. The slight breeze carried the fragrance of nature with it, some flowers blooming in the mountains imparting a fresh fragrance.

Youthful emotions, indefinable ones, wrapped around his heart.

Anger would melt away into puzzlement, and joy would become a sense of ease. Even the occasional glance Chi Muyao shot back, like he was afraid Xi Huai would get lost, made a sweet feeling well up in his heart.

Love meant that any time spent with you was made all the better. It meant that just looking at you could cause flowers to bloom in your heart.

* * *

Chi Muyao took a few Qiankun bags and tied them around his waist. He put his own account book inside before going around the Sect to ask if anyone needed anything.

He had to go shopping in Fang City later, selling some of the things they just produced as well.

Xi Huai frowned at the whole row of Qiankun bags tied around Chi Muyao's waist. "Don't you feel cumbersome wearing so many Qiankun bags?"

Chi Muyao looked down and then explained, "One Qiankun bag costs forty spirit stones and has thirty compartments. One Hundred Item Brocade costs 200 spirit stones and has 100 compartments. Which one do you think is more cost-effective?"

"They're about the same." Xi Huai didn't think much of the difference.

Chi Muyao decided to explain things to him another way. "Do you know how many spirit stones I can save a year?"

"If it's 70 stones in two years...that means 30 stones a year?"

After all, he had just received Chi Muyao's entire net worth a while ago.

"..." Chi Muyao puffed up and continued to bark, "More than fifty stones!"

"Oh. Looks like you didn't give me everything.”

"I don't understand what you're talking about." Chi Muyao took out the formation breaking needle and planned to go to Fang City. This was his first time flying alone on the artefact since receiving it, so he was a little excited.

Yi Qianxi sat to one side eating fruit. "Shidi, have you thought of a name for the artefact?"

"How about ‘Dingding’?" Chi Muyao quickly decided.

Yi Qianxi sighed and shook her head. "Why did I ever get my hopes up for your naming ability?”

A spirit beast named Qiuqiu and an artefact named Dingding. That was Chi Muyao's style.

Luckily for him, Chi Muyao didn't get to name himself. Otherwise he would probably be Chichi or something.

"I like it!" With that Chi Muyao headed to Fang City with Dingding.

On the way, he suddenly heard a sigh. He turned his head and saw Xi Huai catching up to him on Shukuang. "I can catch up to you even if you have a fifteen minute head start."

"The artefacts aren't of the same grade, but I like mine a lot."

"Come here." Xi Huai suddenly reached over to grab Chi Muyao.

"What are you doing? Eh... Hey!"

Dragging him, Xi Huai leapt off the artefact. They plunged straight down.

Chi Muyao grasped Dingding. Looking up, he saw Shukuang follow Xi Huai's descent, even if Xi Huai was in free fall. Was this the autonomous nature of artefacts that recognised a master?

It wasn't until they were about to hit the ground that Xi Huai tossed out a flying artefact to catch them.

This flying artefact was a painted scroll of bamboo slips that could accommodate two once fully unfurled.

After Chi Muyao fell onto the scroll, he leaned back habitually and fell right into Xi Huai's arms, leaning against Xi Huai's chest.

Xi Huai steadied him before commanding the flying artefact to soar into the sky again. It plunged up through the clouds in a breath's time before rushing back below like a fish leaping out of the water.

Chi Muyao was uncomfortable riding on this cloud roller coaster. His hand subconsciously held on to Xi Huai's leg.

Xi Huai finally stopped teasing him. He hugged Chi Muyao from behind and rested his chin on his shoulder, leaning on him like a giant dog.

"Let go..." Chi Muyao didn't like it that much.

"The bamboo slips are too small. I'm tall so it's a bit of a squeeze." As he spoke, Xi Huai's breath poured onto Chi Muyao's neck, soft and warm, before dispersing by his ears.

"I can fly on my own artefact.”

"That thing of yours is too slow." Xi Huai glanced at Chi Muyao's completely flushed earlobes and asked, "Your ears are pierced?"

"En, so I can wear defensive artefacts. Aren't yours?"

"En..." Xi Huai stopped talking after that and focused on hugging him instead of continuing to tease him. This way he could hold Chi Muyao longer.

Chi Muyao knew Xi Huai's shrewish temperament. If he spoke up, the other person would definitely continue to mess around.

This was also the reason the second female lead didn't like him in the original novel.

Thus, Chi Muyao simply gave up struggling so that Xi Huai wouldn't find another way to tease him.

The sight of the duo arriving in Fang City attracted a considerable amount of attention, mainly due to their novel flying artefact. After all, mainly mortals and cultivators of poor aptitude lived here. They rarely came into contact with immortal cultivators and were very curious.

Chi Muyo pretended to be calm as he walked towards a familiar shop to sell things.

The owner of this store liked to lowball prices. And because of how young and inexperienced Chi Muyao appeared to be, he was especially eager to bully him. Despite this, the Yu Chong School still frequented this shop year after year, mainly because they were just stingy. They could spare the spirit stones that other shops couldn't.

And Chi Muyao was also unwilling to take a bad deal. The two of them would barter for a long time.

Today, however, the shop owner had a change in attitude. He glanced at the beast bones Chi Muyao had brought over and then snuck a look at Xi Huai, who was standing behind Chi Muyao.

"This...is thirty spirit stones okay with you?" The shop owner was rarely this courteous.

He probably thought the Yu Chong School found a tall, strong enforcer who'd wreck his store if he gave an inappropriate price.

Chi Muyao considered it a moment and nodded. "The price this time is appropriate."

After the deal was said and done, the shop owner breathed a sigh of relief. Only after he was a bit farther from Xi Huai did he secretly ask Chi Muyao, "This cultivator is..."

Chi Muyao didn't dare to say Xi Huai was a Demonic Faction disciple for fear of scaring these people. They were different from Fang City, which was near the Demonic Faction, so he replied, "Oh. He's...a new Yu Chong School disciple."

"He doesn't look friendly, ah.”

That was an understatement. This was the face of the number one villain, even a glance was brimming with enough killing intent to slaughter your entire family!

Chi Muyao couldn't only nod. "En. This child's face isn't the best.”

The shop owner snuck another look at Xi Huai before whispering, "What're those on his forehead?"

"Spirit beast horns to increase attack power.”

"Do you have to stick them to your forehead?"

Chi Muyao continued to answer vaguely, "It makes them more convenient to use."

"Selling any?"

"No.”

After the transaction was completed, Chi Muyao took Xi Huai out of the store. He suddenly felt that it was quite useful having Xi Huai around. Even the shop owner who liked to bully him didn't dare to speak too loudly.

Walking beside him, Xi Huai leaned down slightly and asked, "Why'd you call me a child? Aren't you younger than me?"

Xi Huai had obviously overheard his conversation with the shop owner.

"I said you were a little disciple, so I went with that.”

"Oh..."

Xi Huai seemed to be in a pretty good mood. He saw something and walked over, picking up a stick of tanghulu to give to Chi Muyao. "For a child."

Then he took out an ingot of gold to give to the tanghulu merchant. Chi Muyao quickly paid a few pennies and intercepted the gold ingot.

Xi Huai wanted to buy it for him, but he ended up paying. This made Xi Huai very unhappy. He wanted to insist on paying again, only to be dragged far away by the sleeve.

Chi Muyao took Xi Huai aside and gave him dozens of pennies and five taels of silver. "With this money, you're a big shot in this market."

"But..." Xi Huai was still a little hesitant.

Chi Muyao unceremoniously took the gold ingot from Xi Huai's hand and said, "Can you give this to me? If we really must, you pay first and I'll give you the difference later."

Xi Huai's original discontent melted away like snow to reveal a smile. "Fine.”

Chi Muyao munched on the tanghulu as he walked around the market. He asked Xi Huai, "Is there anything you want? I'll buy it for you.”

"You seem to be quite rich."

"En. I have some mortal currency. I can even buy a house here to live in.”

"Then why don't you have any spirit stones?"

"I used it all to buy Hundred Flavour Grains."

The two of them passed by the Fang City brothel. Xi Huai suddenly stopped to look at the women calling out to guests upstairs.

Chi Muayo munched on his tanghulu, feeling very relieved. So the little lecher finally had signs of a normal orientation. Why did he feel a sense of joy—like his child had finally grown up?

Who would've expected Xi Huai to walk to the door and give the pimp at the door five taels of silver? "I want the round fan in her hand."

The pimp held the silver for a moment, stunned. Then she called up to the lady on the second floor, who quickly tossed the round fan down. Xi Huai caught it with ease.

This miraculous turn of events left Chi Muyao stupefied.

Xi Huai gave the round fan to Chi Muyao, who subconsciously took it, feeling very inexplicable. Xi Huai looked especially pleased at the sight of him. He laughed, "So that's how you hold the fan."

Chi Muyao wanted nothing more than to throw the fan away on the spot!

Xi Huai ignored that and dragged Chi Muyao towards a tailor's shop. After reaching the entrance, Xi Huai asked, "Are there any pink men's clothing?"

The shop owner was befuddled. Pink wasn't a popular colour for men in the mortal realm so they had nothing of the sort.

Chi Muyao dragged Xi Huai out. "Stop fooling around!"

"How did you know I was going to buy it for you?"

"You even gave me a round fan!"

"I wanted to buy it for Zong Sichen. It would look good on him.”

"Oh..."

"So can you recommend a store to me?"

"I don't buy pink clothes.”

"Oh. What a shame.”

Chi Muyao pretended to be calm as he continued strolling through the streets of Fang City. He munched on his tanghulu.

Xi Huai suddenly stopped and asked, "Is it tasty?"

"En. Very.”

"Feed me one.”

"Don't you practise inedia?"

"I just want a taste." Xi Huai said as he leaned down.

Chi Muyao raised the stick so Xi Huai could have one. He ate one, but his eyes were fixed on Chi Muyao the whole time.

Chi Muyao panicked for a moment, secretly scolding Xi Huai for being a scourge.

He even ate tanghulu so sensually...
