Ch-122 - ‌Extra‌ ‌Chapter,‌ Last ‌of‌ ‌Two‌ ‌

Smile at Each Other. Their Old Chemistry Remains.

The first thing Chen Suyang did when he returned to his apartment was to take out the box where he kept his accessories organiser, including ones from his self-centred periodChuunibyou also known as second year/eighth grader syndrome. i.e. Childish. that was stored under the bed, collecting dust.

As a dancer who used to livestream, he had a lot of accessories. He couldn’t remember whether there were any bird-shaped ones. He could only flip and sort through all of them one by one.

After a long search, he finally found a tangled mess of metal accessories in a paper case from his university years, and successfully rescued a…hummingbird from the entangled chains.

The moment he touched the ring, the voice in Chen Suyang’s mind finally came alive again. [Welcome back.]

Chen Suyang finally breathed a sigh of relief and asked in his mind. [Did Gu Feidi’s soul also come to this world?]

The system replied almost immediately, [Confirmed, he has arrived to this world.]

Chen Suyang asked again, [Where is he now?]

System replied, [Unable to detect without a preexisting connection to his soul in this world. Advising the host to make at least one minute of eye contact to establish a connection.]

Chen Suyang: “...”

Fine, at least it was confirmed that Gu Feidi had arrived to this world, in any event, at least the younger man’s soul wasn’t lost in the void. Now the problem he needed to solve next was to find Gu Feidi’s body in the real world.

Since only Gu Feidi’s soul transmigrated, it meant he could be anyone, regardless of age or gender, or even...might not even be in China.

He tsked lightly and felt that things might be more complicated.

He just hoped Gu Feidi wouldn't be in too much shock and not cause any trouble that could result in being admitted to some mental health unit, that would be the best case scenario.

As for how to find the man...Chen Suyang could only think of a long-term plan. He was after all, just a newcomer in the entertainment industry, he didn’t have much capability to mobilize the people around him to help him search for someone when he didn’t even know what he looked like.

He fiddled with the hummingbird ring and pondered for a moment.

Then, his eyes brightened as he picked up his phone and sent a message to his manager. [Wei-ge, I need a job. I don’t care about the compensation, I’ll take any that could have me appear on the big screen and increase my popularity. I’m willing to take the black to red wayThe direct translation of 黑紅路線. In the entertainment industry, it means to reach the red way (red 紅 in Chinese also means popular, so to gain popularity) by the darker means. Darker ways include but are not limited to digging up dirt, revealing the skeleton in their closet, bad publicity, etc..]

Wei Jian replied a moment later.

[...]

[Not even in your dreams!]

Chen Suyang: [...]

Wei Jian: [Young man, you don’t need to be in such a hurry, you need to make steady progress. The drama you played in isn’t even live yet, so you don’t have much reputation. You might regret rushing down the darker to red path in the future.]

Chen Suyang thought for a moment and typed, [I remembered you offered me a job related to traditional culture, which I turned down. Do you still have time to accept it?]

Wei Jian: [Yes. But didn’t you say you can’t take it because you’re illiterate? You’re only going to serve as an eye candy prop in a program like this, you won’t even have to participate in the show. You sure you don’t want to accept it?]

Chen Suyang thought to himself, That was when I was illiterate, it didn’t mean I’m still one now!

After spending all those years in ancient society, he didn’t have many entertainment choices. So during that time, other than practicing martial arts, he followed Gu Feidi in learning calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, playing Go and the traditional way of brewing tea. Occasionally, they would go on a scenic tour, and there was only Chinese opera and storytelling in the teahouse...Although he wasn’t influenced into a great expert, he still had countless general knowledge gained from his experiences.

Although a variety show may not make him more popular, if this kind of adaptable and directional variety show was well received, he could only imagine the amount of historical dramas that would come knocking on his door one after the other.

He was an ordinary person who entered the entertainment industry, so his acting skills were naturally inferior to those who came from a professional class...but historical drama wise, it would be easier to get the role with his years of rich experience in ancient life.

Now Chen Suyang had a rough idea for his future development, he immediately sent a message to Wei Jian, [Wei-ge, I think we should do the audition for the role, please schedule the time for me.]

Wei Jian quickly replied, [Fine, since you’re willing to work hard, I’ll help you find some study materials later. Let’s strengthen our training.]

So this was settled.

Chen Suyang took in a deep breath, sat cross legged by the bed and began to breathe in and out, doing the most basic training for a martial artist.

His body in this world contained no internal energy, but this didn’t affect his daily life. However, practicing mental skills would help him maintain a better state. So it was natural for him to practice going forward.

Wei Jian was a very efficient manager. The next morning, he called Chen Suyang to stop by the company.

As soon as he arrived, Wei Jian stuffed his arms full of thick piles of printed materials.

“I signed you up for the variety show.” Wei Jian announced. “Here are the open audition’s rules and processes, as well as the potentially useful information I researched for you. The first round of the audition is a written exam, and the second round is a Q & A interview. It’ll take place next month. You better work on your recitation since you’re starting later than everyone else.”

Chen Suyang deeply thanked his manager and went to greet his seniors practicing in the company before heading home to review the materials.

He studied the resources materials like hell for a month. He didn’t encounter any obstacles in his audition and successfully advanced to the top one hundred.

From the top one hundred, the selected performing artists would go to the TV station to record the program. From this moment, Chen Suyang finally received exposure from this program.

The top one hundred came from management companies all over the country. Finally, they gathered in an enclosed training camp in the suburb of Yan City. Next, they would conduct teacher scoring, as well split between training and group competition.

Chen Suyang had seen this kind of variety show before, which was actually similar to the talent show process he participated in when he made his debut.

He arrived at the training camp just at the right time, and checked into his dormitory with the staff tasked to welcome performing artists.

The dormitory number was arranged according to the results obtained in the preliminary audition contest. Once the recording of the first program was over tomorrow and the scores were released, their dorm room would carry out the first revision.

Three of the four roommates have arrived. Chen Suyang was indifferent to his roommates’ identities, as they uniformly welcomed each other with a smile.

Everyone was about the same age, and they were all from a performing background. Each had a more extroverted nature. After they introduced themselves, they quickly chatted with each other.

“I heard there is a covert deal in this audition, does anyone know? Di Feiyang, who ranks first on our top one hundred list, is actually the little highnessNot in a royal sense, 太子爺 is more for someone whose parent are high official, has powerful influence, or is very rich. Will juggle between similar words. of Di Group.”

“Huh? Didn't they say he is in poor health and was sent abroad for treatment by his father? I’m sure it’s just someone with the same name…”

“That might not be the case. I was in the same division as him in the preliminary. I saw him...To participate in such a small program riding in a BentleyTeo: According to their about page on Youtube, they are ‘manufacturer of the world's most sought after luxury vehicles’.
Sahl: Often used by royalty and the elite in society - this car is often seen as a status symbol of wealth and class. Below is the 2022 'Flying Spur'.
. I can’t think of another Di Feiyang with the same name except the Di Group’s son.”

The next person sucked air between his teeth. “...Isn’t this fun hobby玩票’s direct translation is ‘playing ticket’. It either means amateurs come on stage to act or doing this informally and not treating it like professional work. Or simply, doing it ‘just for fun’. a bit over exaggerated? Do you guys think that he was named champion from deals behind closed doors?”

“That I’m not sure...I don’t plan on competing for the crown with my ability. The program will have several seasons. I'm happy as long as I get exposure.”

Di Group was a large group, even Chen Suyang had heard of them, but he didn’t pay much attention to the news in this regard, so he didn’t know that the young master’s name was Di Feiyang.

However...The act of taking a Bentley to the talent competition meant the rich son didn’t want to hide his identity. But even if such a person wanted to enter the entertainment industry just for fun, they shouldn’t be interested in this online variety show...It should not be difficult to spend a bit of his pocket money on making a movie or TV drama.

His conclusion: it was really hard to comprehend the brain processes of rich people.

As they chatted, it was soon lunchtime and the last roommate arrived just in time. So they went downstairs to eat in the canteen arranged by the program group.

As soon as they arrived at the dormitory’s dining hall, they saw a group of people coming in through the gate.

Surrounded by them and in the centre was a young man with a sickly pale complexion. He was tall and wore white Traditional Chinese Tai Chi clothing in what looked like pure silk. His loose clothes swayed with each of his steps, making him appear increasingly thinner.

The other party quickly walked up to Chen Suyang’s group. Chen Suyang immediately pulled his roommate’s arm to free the path to the elevator.

Who knew that the young man in the traditional wear came straight toward them and stopped. A pair of slightly shallow eyes fixed on Chen Suyang’s face for a moment.

As Chen Suyang stood in bewilderment, he suddenly heard a very familiar address in a low voice,

“...Xiao Xiao.”

This extremely light call sounded like an ancient bell, which crashed into Chen Suyang’s ears and stunned him on the spot.

The young man’s light brown eyes twinkled with uncontrollable joy. He looked over silently and seemed to be waiting for Chen Suyang’s answer.

Then, the assistant next to the young man interrupted, “Er, sir, let’s head to the dormitory first. Since they are all contestants, you’ll have the chance to get acquainted with them.”

The young man glanced at his bodyguards then back at Chen Suyang and said with a smile, “Since it’s inconvenient right now, I’ll come find you...later.”

With that, he left with a group of people behind him.

Before Chen Suyang could collect his thoughts, his roommate suddenly patted him on the shoulder.

“Holy crap!” The roommate had a shocking expression. “Chen Suyang, that’s Di Feiyang! Do you know him? Why didn’t you tell us?”

Chen Suyang was startled and answered on instinct, “But I don’t know Di Feiyang…”

...But, whether he knew the soul inside that body would remain unknown until he could confirm later.

Unfortunately, the system couldn’t determine because their eye contact was less than a minute.

“Don’t know him? Then what was that earlier? He even said he would come find you later...Shoot! It couldn’t be that…”

As the roommate talked, he suddenly lowered his voice, “...His highness is homosexual and he took a fancy to you!?”

Chen Suyang: “...”

With no way to explain this, he should just...act ignorant for the time being.

After lunch with his new roommates, Chen Suyang went to the small park behind the training camp alone on the pretext that he wanted to go for a walk nearby. The roommates thought he wanted to avoid Di Family’s young master, so they didn’t force him back to the dormitory.

But Chen Suyang’s plan was just the opposite of what they thought—the Di family's power was huge. If Di Feiyang intended to find him, the other must know that he came to the little park alone. It had a wide view with hardly any place to hide. The most suitable spot to start a conversation.

Sure enough, in less than ten minutes, Di FeiyangDi and Fei are different between Di Feiyang (Dí Fēi Yáng 狄飛揚) and Gu Feidi (Gù Fēi Dí 顧非敵), same tone though. Di (狄) is a common surname, Fei (飛) for fly. , who was still dressed in the elegant Tai Chi outfit, came to the small part alone and walked straight to Chen Suyang.

“Xiao Xiao.” He smiled tenderly. “You look just the same.”

Chen Suyang raised his eyebrows. “And you changed quite a lot. How did you become the Di Family’s son?”

“Didn’t you arrange this for me? Why question me?” Di Feiyang asked with a smile. “Do you know how frightened I was when I opened my eyes to see people around me with red hair and blue eyes?”

Chen Suyang was silent for a moment and muttered, “You sure adapted well. You even learned to participate in the talent competition.”

Di Feiyang replied, “Well...this is a long and complicated story.”

Chen Suyang curled his lip and insisted, “Then make the long story short.”

Di Feiyang smiled and explained, “This body originally suffered from illness in the head, which may be due to the original’s incomplete soul. Now that I’m here, the doctor thought it was a sign of healing and allowed me to return home to recuperate. Later, I asked my family if there was any way for the world to see and acknowledge me. So my father arranged for me to participate in this activity because the Di Family is one of the investors.”

Chen Suyang: “...”

Fine, whatever his highness wanted to do, it was way easier than him.

Thinking like this, Chen Suyang suddenly noticed something was wrong.

“That can’t be. Why are you so sure that I brought you here? And your appearance is different from before. How were you so sure that I would recognise you once you’re famous?”

Di Feiyang replied, “I know you came from this world. These strange things that happened to me have to be related to you. Seeing that you haven’t come to find me, I assumed that you may not know where my soul resided. As for how to make you recognise me…”

Then he displayed a proud smile. “You’re familiar with my sword technique, aren’t you? If I become famous with this, how can you not recognise me?”

This was actually what Chen Suyang thought as well.

Although his face was exactly the same as the one in the novel, he had prepared two sets of sword dances for the program—Divide Lotus Technique and Gliding Blossom Art.

“Now that I have found you, I don’t have to continue to participate in this program.” Di Feiyang said. “When I get back, I’ll inform the competition about my resignation.”

“Huh? Wait a moment…” Chen Suyang chuckled. “Why quit? Participate with me! You never know, maybe we could debut as a duo together. Then we can do anything together in the future. What do you think?”

Di Feiyang smiled and asked, “Why, you aren’t bored with me after so many years?”

Chen Suyang countered, “What about you? Are you fed up with me after all these years?”

Di Feiyang answered, “How could I ever feel that way towards you? You’re already a part of my life. Besides...Now that you and I are here in this big world, our identities have changed. We can act as if we are reunited again after our reincarnations.”

Then he stepped back and cupped his fist to salute Chen Suyang, introducing, “This humble one is called Di Feiyang, pleased to make your acquaintance.”

Seeing the other man acting like this, Chen Suyang also grinned.

After pondering over it, he held out a hand out to Di Feiyang and returned, “My name is Chen Suyang. Nice to meet you.”

They held hands and smiled at each other. Their chemistry remained the same.

Translator's Corner

Translator has something to add:

Teo: Finally at the end of the novel! My head-con: Chen Suyang and Di Feiyang have their own quick transmigration (or world hopping) journey after living in this modern world (❁´◡`❁). Isn’t that such a wonderful thought?

Also, if I could even go back, I would change the title of this novel to ‘Didn’t We Agree to be Each Other’s Arch-Enemies?’ or something in that manner. They are not really ‘arch-rivals’, since there is no rivaling and more on opposite sides. But I guess past Teo thought Arch-Rivals sounds cooler and past Teo’s translating isn’t that polished yet…
