People of the Righteous Way are Too Shameless!

At this very moment, Su Yang himself didn’t know that the plot that was consistently on his mind, which he tried so hard to keep it from derailing, had already flown off into an odd direction—like a wild horse escaping from its rein. In a direction that by any estimate, he wouldn’t be able to rein back.

He carried on his Young Master’s role and wandered leisurely in Mount Mei Zhu’s dense forest, toward the direction of the House of Jade’s gates.

The House of Jade, hidden in the depths of Mount Mei Zhu in Qing Wu County, was the most extensively discussed legend in the Jianghu.

It had no direct disciples of its own and did not associate with any martial groups. It only had its simple name and countless legends and tales that were spread around the world.

The House of Jade would open its gates every six years, to select the most outstanding young talents of a generation in the Jianghu. Candidates could enter its walls to learn rare and exquisite mental skillsA mystical art or collection of techniques which cultivators practice in order to cultivate, often translated as 'Cultivation Method' or 'Cultivation Art'. I didn’t use cultivation at first just because when people see cultivation, they think of xianxia / wuxia.

Plus they don’t really use mental skills to fight, it’s just some passive skill that allows the user to use internal energy I did it this way from the time I spend translating this project. But I think that bit me in the butt because there is another 'cultivation' word coming in the future.
and martial arts techniques. Upon the completion of their apprenticeship, the graduates could return to their original martial sect. They did not have to swear allegiance to the House of Jade.

Nowadays, almost all of the most famous and brave figures in the Jianghu had undergone training in the House of Jade.

Su Yang didn’t know what the House of Jade’s goal was, to attempt some sort of charitable services?

At first, he complained and roasted the script multiple times.

Of course, during his complaints and roasting, he knew the world was only a screenplay, a web novel-to-drama adaptation. As a fictional work, of course, the author could build their world however they wanted, no matter how unscientific, illogical, and outrageous the things that occurred, it was nothing new.

For example, his current whereabouts, Mount Mei Zhu, was very unscientific.

There was an array on this mountain. It was said that the owner of the House of Jade set it. This array had no lethality, but it would prevent anyone above the age of twenty from entering the array. Its illusion making them unable to set foot into the deep mountain forest and reach the entrance gate.

Therefore, all the candidates who appeared in Mount Mei Zhu’s deep forest were all youngsters in their teens or at most just turned twenty.

His character’s ability setting in the early script was almost considered a defiance of the natural order.

Su Yang’s character was set at a tender age of sixteen or seventeen. Because of his great achievement in Six Night Flower Burial, his internal energy was much higher than that of his peers—for no reason. Besides the Evil Sect’s signature move, Cherish Flower Steps, and combined with his Divide Lotus Technique, which was very suitable for his thin sword, his combat ability was a sharp upward line, and he could almost compete with famous veterans in the Jianghu.

Today, on Mount Mei Zhu, not a single examinee could be his opponent. The only one who could compete with him in a direct confrontation was injured.

Of course, only Su Yang himself knew that inside, he was actually an embroidered pillow stuffed with grass內裡草包的繡花枕頭 - (figuratively) one who is outwardly attractive but lacking ability or talent inside; just a pretty face. The added grass is to make extra emphasis on the lacking of one's ability. —apart from the strong internal energy in this body, there was nothing good to be said about his other non-existence martial skills.

He even learned Cherish Flower Steps at the last minute from browsing the Evil Sect’s secret martial art manuals for several nights. He looked through them, blindly guessed the ancient traditional Chinese characters with the assistance of the picture supplement, and memories of his movements and posture during his wire-fu workWire fu: 吊威也, an element or style of Hong Kong action cinema used in fight scenes. It is a combination of two terms: 'wire work' and 'kung fu'. Wire work is where an actor or stunt double uses a harness and wires to produce the illusion of flying. See The Untamed action scenes for examples. in the action scenes of the movie.

He was using the cover of the Evil Sect’s Young Master’s deterrence factor, not to mention his petal retainer following behind him. Out of all the enemies he encountered along the way, none dared to come forth and test their luck.

Thus, he was the first to arrive at the House of Jade’s gate after his long journey through the dense forest, taking his sweet time.

No disciple was guarding the post outside of the gate. There was only a young, soft and delicate woman in white, leaning against the warding stone石敢當 or Shigandang, is an ornamental stone tablet with writings, which is used to exorcise evil spirits in east Asia. at the gate and reading a book.

Su Yang glanced at the woman, assuming that she was a candidate who arrived at the mountain gate before them. He ignored her, moving toward the gate with the grace befitting the Young Master.

“Don’t be in such a hurry, wait out here first…”

Before he could step foot through the gate, he heard a single sentence from the woman, who lazily continued to read her book.

In a state of shock and lost for words, he found he’d made an incorrect assumption

Listening to her tone, she wasn’t a random outsider, but someone from the House of Jade?

But the script had no such occurrence!!

He blinked slowly at the woman without replying.

Without taking her eyes from her book, she said unhurriedly, “Besides, there is only one jade bell on you, not two. I can’t let you both in together. The House of Jade doesn’t acknowledge servant relationships. If he wishes to enter, he must obtain his own jade bell.”

Being informed of this, Su Yang was amazed and asked without thinking, “How do you know we only have one jade bell?”

The woman turned a page and answered without giving it much apparent thought, “Since it is a bell, it naturally would make a sound. There’s only one sound source from both of you, not two…”

Being astounded again, he reached inside, withdrew the jade bell and closely examined it on his palm.

The jade bell was as big as a walnut, carved from white jade, a material that was warm, smooth, and half translucent. Within it, a smudge of colour green was vaguely visible among the vast white haze.

But this bell itself only had its outer shape carved and appeared completely solid in the centre. How could it emit sound?

Dear author, even if you write a fictional script, could you please not be this unscientific in your work?!

The Evil Sect’s petal retainer was completely clueless as to his Young Master’s thoughts as he leaned forward and whispered, “Young Master, I’m afraid we must not underestimate this woman. We cannot brute force our way through this. Why don’t we turn back to the forest and find another jade bell?”

Su Yang scratched his head, put the illogical jade bell back inside his sleeve, and answered carelessly, “That’s not needed. I only came here in passing. We will go home after the selection, for now, wait for me here at the mountain gate.”

The petal retainer was stupefied. “Young master? I thought you wanted to participate in the selection…”

“That’s right. I said I wanted to participate in the selection, but I didn’t say I wanted to enter the House of Jade.” Su Yang clarified.

In the screenplay, the Evil Sect’s Young Master was eliminated in the final test. Therefore, Su Yang didn’t have the mindset to enter the House of Jade at all. He would only participate in the selection for the rematch against Gu Feidi. To trigger this rematch, he must continue the plot and remain in the selection.

Hearing Su Yang’s declaration, the petal retainer was once again stupefied for a long time before he silently swallowed the question in his heart and stood aside.

The woman, whose attention had been on the page in front of her, suddenly gazed up toward Su Yang. She didn’t comment or show any expression, and soon lowered her head again, turning the page leisurely.

Within the time it took to burn one incense stick—thirty minutes—the second group arrived at the gate. It was Gu Feidi’s party.

Contradicting his earlier appearance, Gu Feidi had changed into a clean, light-blue robe. His hair was back in order and his face had regained its rosy colour, absolutely no sign of his former injured self could be seen. He was sandwiched between Xu Yunzhan and Pu Lingyun, with the retainer from the Village of Mount Qianfeng following closely behind.

When he spotted Su Yang standing in front of the gate, Xu Yunzhan immediately pulled Gu Feidi’s arm, positioning himself in front of his friend to protect him.

Su Yang, of course, witnessed the whole thing.

However, in the screenplay, they wouldn’t linger outside of the gates for long, instead the next scene would start when the rest of the party arrived out of the dense forest and they immediately walked through the gate. So when Su Yang saw Gu Feidi, he didn’t acknowledge him. He crossed his arms and adopted a proud and aloof image that repelled outsiders from stepping into his space, and looked up at a perfect forty-five degrees toward the sky.

Xu Yunzhan and Gu Feidi saw Su Yang’s attitude toward them, exchanged a look, and tacitly pretended that Su Yang didn't exist, each finding a spot to sit down and have a rest.

But Pu Lingyun, spoiled and pampered by several of her Shixiong since she’d been a child, had a much less amenable temper.

Seeing the source of evil, the person who fed Gu Feidi the pill, Pu Lingyun gave him a ferocious glare and abruptly hissed, “Su Yang! You shameless, despicable low life! All of you in the Evil Sect behave in such a wretched way, doing such unspeakable acts. You dare to covet the House of Jade’s—”

Su Yang, who was originally striking his prideful pose, now stood dumbfounded by the string of sudden verbal abuse. He even forgot to sustain his persona’s image, blinking slowly and looking ultimately at a loss.

“Lingyun, hold your tongue!” Gu Feidi said in a deep voice. “Don’t be rude in front of the House of Jade.”

Pu Lingyun choked and said aggrievedly, “Xiao Shixiong, why are you swallowing your anger when he was the one who greatly humiliated you!”

Gu Feidi glanced briefly at Su Yang before he lowered his eyelashes and said calmly, “Whatever the case, at least he didn’t kill me.”

Eyes wide, she exclaimed, “But he clearly did it for—”

Xu Yunzhan extended his hand out to cover her mouth and whispered in her ear, “Currently, Su Yang has the most skilled martial arts among us, not to mention the petal retainer he brought along with. Do not provoke him! Now our only hope is that Su Yang will be selected into the House of Jade smoothly and steadily. Do not create any complications. Only in this way could our Alliance Leader find a way to remove the pill’s effect with no worries. You need to have patience!”

Convinced by his remarks, but still unable to let this completely go. Pu Lingyun glared at Su Yang and gave him a loud ‘humph’, which barely quietened her rage.

Still dumbfounded, Su Yang was completely baffled.

…What the hell?

He plainly let a heavily injured Gu Feidi off and fed him his legendary pill for healing. How could he be a shameless, despicable low life?!

Xu Yunzhan and Pu Lingyun didn’t know the whole story, so they at least had a decent excuse to scold him. But Gu Feidi himself should know who saved him! What was with his attitude?

In conclusion, he gazed at Gu Feidi with hesitation.

It happened that Gu Feidi also glanced at him quietly.

Originally, he was not susceptible to people’s emotions, but somehow, he keenly caught the anger in Gu Feidi’s eyes, and even some unsettled disgust.

Hey, now that was just going too far!

Su Yang couldn’t stand it!

He bit down and unveiled the Young Master’s persona, looking sideways at Gu Feidi and smirking, “Our ‘young rising martial star’, the ‘young righteous hero’, uses this kind of attitude toward his saviour?”

His single question made Gu Feidi clenched his fists.

Pu Lingyun shouted angrily, “You—!”

Xu Yunzhan covered her mouth again, but his scowl toward Su Yang was also full of fury.

Even Bai Qi, the bodyguard behind the three, seemed to be saying with this gaze, ‘the people in the Evil Sect are truly shameless.’

People of the righteous way are the ones who are too shameless! Su Yang felt indignant.

Wasn’t the protagonist saved by the Evil Sect’s Young Master? How hard was it to accept? Simply too hypocritical, too artificial, too unreasonable!

Su Yang was sulking on one side, when Gu Feidi suddenly chuckled.

The vigorous young man lifted his gaze and focused it straight at Su Yang.

With a smile on his lips, he said each word with emphasis, “This one is really grateful to Young Hero Su. To show this my appreciation, I will repay this kindness one day.”
