That Wasn’t Me, Really!

As soon as Gu Feidi gave the command, a group of well-equipped fighters entered the inn’s gate.

They were clearly well trained. The leader whispered his orders to others, and they scattered, blocking all four corners of the inn.

The leader grabbed an employee and asked, “Where is your innkeeper?”

The employee probably saw Mei Shisan taking his boss and co-worker for questioning, so he unconsciously adjusted his head to glance at the second floor.

Gu Feidi pulled Su Yang into their room, closed and bolted the door. He said quickly, “Pack your things quickly and let’s leave immediately.”

Su Yang knew the situation was dire, so without wasting much time, he packed everything up in record time.

At this time, the footsteps rang from the corridor. The innkeeper and his employee stood with their backs to the wall, looking at each other in dismay. They trembled in fear and dared not to make sudden movements.

“Go!” Gu Feidi pushed open the window. The three used their light movement skill, leapt into the yard, and ran straight to the stable.

However, there were people guarding the stable.

Gu Feidi tsked lightly and changed his movement to a different movement than that of the Tengyun Pavilion’s Striking Swift. Using his momentum, he crashed into the guards and used his sheath to render the guards unconscious.

“Who goes there?!” One of the men immediately pulled out his sword. He shouted, “The Tongyun Monastery heard that the Evil Sect’s evil spawn was sighted here. You guys better not intervene!”

Hearing the two words, ‘Evil Sect’ Su Yang slowed down slightly. Without the same martial arts knowledge as Gu Feidi, he didn’t know any other light movement skill other than Cherished Flower Step.

But the other contenders took the opportunity and surrounded him. He had no time to hide his identity. He could only break through the ring at his fastest speed to catch up with Gu Feidi.

Cherished Flower Step!” As expected, someone immediately recognised Evil Sect’s signature move. The man cried, “Stop them!”

With Su Yang and Gu Feidi’s level of martial arts, the common chivalrous fighter wasn’t their opponent, especially if they joined hands. Even if Gu Feidi didn’t use any movement or technique that could expose him as someone from the Tengyun Pavilion, he effortlessly broke through the siege. While for the other two, since they had already been identified, they were even more at ease breaking through the circle, as there was no reason for them to hide their true skills. In the blink of an eye, they got on their horses and rushed out of the chaos.

When the leader that was searching inside the inn came out, he saw only the back of the three men leaving in the distance.

Since their whereabouts were known, Gu Feidi could only change their route around the mountain forest instead of the main road. To get their pursuers off their trail, they decided to stay at a village along the mountain river where they could change their disguises before they continued their journey.

“How did they find my whereabouts?” Su Yang was puzzled. “Could it be those brothers? Did they recognise me? That shouldn’t be though…”

Gu Feidi comforted, “There aren’t that many people in the Central Plains Wulin who have seen you, but there are always a few that you met in the past during your time travelling in the Central Plains from years ago…Maybe they fought with you before.”

This was beyond Su Yang’s memory, so he could only silently nod. “Probably.”

“No, there is another possibility.” Mei Shisan interrupted.

“What?” Su Yang and Gu Feidi blurted in unison.

Mei Shisan continued, “Do you remember when you disbanded the Tiger Lily Hall and released those young men back to the Jianghu? From what you told me. A fifteen to sixteen-year-old man crashed into you and saw your appearance…He might be one of the young men from the Tiger Lily Hall.”

Su Yang was speechless.

He recalled the young man that crashed into him yesterday, who had a beautiful appearance. A perfect type that fitted into the ‘loving at first sight’ that the original Young Master liked.

Gu Feidi raised an eyebrow. “The Tiger Lily Hall? That name sounds familiar…That kid was one of your bed servants?”

A pricking sensation crept from Su Yang’s neck to his scalp, as he immediately tried to explain himself, “I hadn’t even been in the Tiger Lily Hall, I don’t even remember any of their faces!”

Mei Shisan said matter of fact, “Young Master…You used to visit the children in the Tiger Lily Hall quite often, daily even. Sometimes you would even spectate their training under the Chrysanthemum Hall. You even forced the gentle tempered ones to serve you in dressing and bathing…”

“Shisan!” Su Yang snapped. “Shut the fuck up!”

Then he turned toward Gu Feidi, trying to laugh it off. “That wasn’t me, I promise! Please believe me!”

The spurious smile on Gu Feidi’s face sent extreme fear down Su Yang’s spine.

It wasn’t until Su Yang looked extremely restless, like a horse rider who was fiddling in his saddle because it suddenly grew a nail, did Gu Feidi soothe while smiling, “Yes, I believe you.”

Su Yang was relieved.

Gu Feidi then added, “Since they have seen you before, you should not have released them at all.”

Su Yang was startled. “But…but the Evil Sect captured them. What was I going to do? Keep them locked up for life?”

Gu Feidi sighed, “You are too kind, not really suitable for the Jianghu. Once we get the Poisonous Gu out on the snowy mountain, I am taking you back to Mount Mei Zhu. You should stay in the House of Jade if possible.”

Su Yang: “...”

“However, if there are more people that could recognise you in the Central Plains, this trip won’t be an easy one.” Gu Feidi frowned.

“You know, you can go find a guard from your Pavilion,” Su Yang murmured from his horse. “We can travel on separate routes. Without me, it’s more convenient for you to deliver the letter to the Tengyun Pavilion by yourself because of your identity.”

He knew why Gu Feidi was travelling in disguise with them. It was to avoid creating difficulties for the Tengyun Pavilion. His Pavilion was the head of the Central Plains Wulin after all. If the news of him entangling with the Evil Sect spread again, how would his Pavilion convince the masses? Therefore, he could only accompany them to the snowy mountain in the southwest as Gu Feidi, not as the Young Lord of Tengyun Pavilion.

But Gu Feidi shook his head. “I am not doing this all for you.”

Speaking of this, he paused for a moment before explaining to Su Yang, “If I return to my Pavilion as the Young Lord with great fanfare, the next thing that would happen is the united martial arts community will oppressively pursue my father to give the order to mount a punitive expedition into the Evil Sect. And…with my current age, if I walked down that path, I don’t know how many sects of various sizes would send their daughters and nieces for my hand in marriage…”

Su Yang: “...”

“Keep dreaming!” He sneered at Gu Feidi.

Gu Feidi turned his head and smiled brightly at Su Yang. “So, I will not be disclosing my identity on our journey. As long as everyone thinks I am missing, I can have the chance to plead with my father to allow me to accompany you to see the miracle doctor.”

Hearing this, Su Yang suddenly became nervous. He bit his lips and asked, “Alliance Leader Gu…Will he accept you being with someone like me?”

Gu Feidi assured, “My father is a man with reason, and he isn’t very disgusted with the Evil Sect. Since you detoxified me and saved my life, he will surely agree for me to accompany you for treatment at least.”

Su Yang nodded. Even though he was still somewhat uncertain, if Gu Feidi said that everything would work, he could only believe in him.

Once night came, they saw the outline of the mountain village before them in the distance.

However, when they were about to enter the village, Su Yang suddenly felt a palpitation, and then a chilling cold began to surge. He pulled on the reins on instinct and slowed his horse down.

Gu Feidi immediately noticed the strange behaviour as he rode to Su Yang’s side, questioning while frowning, “Is the cold acting up again?”

The Apparition this time was not as intense as before. Su Yang was able to remain in the saddle with barely enough thought.

He grasped onto the reins in his hands and nodded. “It might be from me using the Half-Withered Crimson today for the poison…and at night without sun, it would…”

Gu Feidi reached for Su Yang’s wrist, touching the ice-cold skin. He sighed and hopped over to Su Yang’s horse, right behind the freezing man. He embraced the man in his arms and took over the reins to move the horse forward.

Su Yang leaned against Gu Feidi, feeling the warm and comfortable internal energy slowly wrapping around him like a blanket as he closed his eyes in ease, trying to fight the layers of bubbling chill from within.

By the time they finally arrived at the village, Su Yang had already fallen asleep. Meanwhile, Mei Shisan had found a farmer who was willing to let them stay.

Gu Feidi cradled Su Yang in his arms. After he apologised to the farmer, he immediately took Su Yang to the side room and wrapped the sleeping man in a thick quilt.

Although it was autumn, the temperature was too high for the farmers in the mountain village to start a charcoal brazier, so the bedding was slightly damp from the humidity, making it cold to the touch. Upon seeing this, Gu Feidi sighed, let Mei Shisan guard outside the house to watch during the night, and squeezed into the quilt with Su Yang. He embraced the ice-cold man tightly in his arms and used his internal energy to provide warmth.

Su Yang, who was shivering from the cold, unconsciously shrank into Gu Feidi’s arms, and soon buried his face into the crook of the warm man’s neck.

His breath contained traces of chill. Maybe from the discomfort and feeling a bit impatient, he threw the rest of his body toward Gu Feidi.

Gu Feidi swallowed and lowered his gaze slightly.

Carefully struggling out from the body without waking the sleeping man, Gu Feidi held Su Yang’s cheeks and kissed the cold lips.

First, it was gentle pecks, then a long and affectionate kiss for what felt like an eternity before they separated slowly. After another soft kiss, which turned into a slightly restless light nibble, finally, when he couldn’t hold back his desire any longer, he parted Su Yang’s lips, allowing his tongue to slip inside, like a man stealing a breath of fresh air greedily.

The two men’s bodies fitted snugly, and Gu Feidi’s hand moved around to Su Yang’s back. The hand moved up to the shoulder blade and back down to the lower back, then he went along the spine to return to holding the back of the neck.

As he kissed attentively, unconsciously pressing the person under him, breathing in the darkest desire.

Su Yang’s body temperature gradually recovered from the affectionate kiss and hug. Inside the dreamland, he wiggled his body to seek a more comfortable embrace.

Gu Feidi lowered his gaze and traced Su Yang’s face, which was inches from his own by the glimmer of light escaping from the window.

Placing his fingertip between Su Yang’s eyebrows, he closed his eyes. Using his finger, he traced Su Yang’s eyebrows in detail and gently swept through Su Yang’s soft and long eyelashes.

He murmured a few times, and then sighed, “I can hardly endure my desire when lying against your fragile side..."

Then Mei Shisan, who was outside the door, suddenly shouted, “Who goes there?”

Gu Feidi immediately left the warm cocoon of the bed, drawing out his long sword and staying alert.

The sound of swords clashing could be heard outside, along with a loud noise of the house’s window being smashed into pieces, then the sound of footsteps quickly approaching their temporary lodging.

He was up against many unwelcome guests. Their heads were covered, and they were completely dressed in black, which hid them in the dark. It was almost impossible to catch their figures.

Gu Feidi was guarding in front of the bed, not leaving a single inch between him and Su Yang. Using his internal energy to enhance his hearing, he could distinguish their positions as he mercilessly slashed at the assassins.

However, the number of enemies was really too much. Mei Shisan fighting outside was at his limit, as he was soon covered in injuries.

Gu Feidi in the room was one against four. In order to keep his identity anonymous, he couldn’t utilise his Flying Kite Technique. He was also protecting Su Yang, limiting his range of motion, making blocking very difficult.

There was an incoming blade which Gu Feidi blocked with his sword, but he picked up the sound of a weapon cutting through the air beside him. It was aiming at Su Yang on the bed.

Without an opening to take back his sword, he used his free hand to deflect the deadly attack, drawing attention away from Su Yang. The sharp edge cut Gu Feidi’s arm, leaving a long cut on his leather wrist guard. Disregarding his injury, he spun his wrist and sent his sword forward, stabbing the assassin.

Then a sharp blade landed on Gu Feidi’s shoulder. The intense pain made him groan. He flipped his sword over and sliced towards the other person’s neck...

On the bed behind Gu Feidi, Su Yang once again fell into a dream filled with a foul stench and a crimson scene of bloodshed.

The dream was so realistic that he thought he could smell the iron scent of blood in this illusion. But this time he wasn’t centre stage, instead, from the spectator’s point of view, looking at Gu Feidi, who was dressed in white and standing in the middle of a bloodbath.

Gu Feidi looked up at him with pale lips. Half of his body was covered in blood as if he was heavily injured.

Su Yang was somewhat anxious. He wanted to hold Gu Feidi in his arms, but he couldn’t move a single muscle. He could only float in the air like a ghost, unable to do anything.

With a deep worry in his mind, his anxiety surged as it shocked him out of his dream abruptly.

Translator has something to add:

Mei Shisan is such a hard worker, I haven’t seen him resting/ sleeping since the start of their journey. Someone give that guy a gold star (and an energy drink).

Also, some sweets for you guys, this chapter was locked so the author had to rewrite some parts, here is the original and much more…ambiguous part (or as I called it, assassins you cockblockers (this will be a joke in the future)!!):

Sahloknir has something to add: Teo originally had the bonus (kissing scene) at the bottom. I’ve re-inserted it into the text for smoother reading. 😉
