Going to Meet the Parents Now?!

The moment the bone whistle was brought to light, a sharpness suddenly appeared in the large man’s eyes.

But the next moment, he muttered with a grudging voice, “I-I…I don’t know! He…he might be an E’Luo Gui Faction spy planted in my Wujiang Sect! That’s right, he’s a spy! I know nothing of this!”

Gu Feidi raised his sword. Now it rested below the man’s chin and right beside the neck. He ordered Fan Qi, “You there, come help me search him thoroughly.”

Then he finally turned to Su Yang, “My beloved wife, please step away for a bit.”

Su Yang: “...”

Aren’t you a little bit too into your role?

But what else could he do? They were going to body search this big man, and ‘she’ could only listen to the ‘husband’ and step away.

After Su Yang moved behind the folding screen, the two men quickly held the struggling bearded man down, and tied him and his companion with a dead knot, which Su Yang could faintly see through a small crack between the folds. The two quickly found another bone whistle, small bamboo pieces, a small knife for carving letters, and several black owl feathers that were stuck in their clothes.

With the evidence right in front of them, the restrained man began to act violently and became non-cooperative. Regardless of what Gu Feidi asked, he refused to answer. Even threatening him had become useless.

Gu Feidi snorted, knocked the man out cold and instructed Fan Qi, “Could this friend hand these two men over to the nearest League Hall for me?”

The League Hall is an institution established by the Wulin around the Central Plains to handle disputes. With Gu Ruohai being the Wulin Alliance Leader currently, it meant the League Hall was maintained and operated by the Tengyun Pavilion, which made them trustworthy.

When he heard this order, Fan Qi was puzzled. “Huh? Why ask me? It was clearly you who caught these two spies.”

Gu Feidi glanced at the folding screen and whispered, “This one is travelling with his wife, so it’s not convenient to transport them. Please accept this earnest request. In exchange, let me pay for your room charge.”

Fan Qi agreed with that logic, so he nodded and dragged the two unconscious men out.

Gu Feidi watched Fan Qi go out into the dark night and returned to the room, saying to Su Yang, “I finally found someone who is easier to trick than you.”

Su Yang, who just sat cross-legged on the couch, rolled his eyes when he heard Gu Feidi and rebuked, “What? I’m not that gullible!”

After some careful consideration, he found something was not right. “Wait, you tricked me before? You better hurry and own up to the facts!”

Gu Feidi wiped his hands, put the towel in the basin, and walked to the couch. He gently pinched Su Yang’s chin as he moved closer to the man.

Su Yang moved backwards to dodge. “What are you doing!?”

Gu Feidi did nothing at all, he simply smiled and advised, “My dearest wife, you should rest for the night.”

Then, he released his chin and sat side by side next to Su Yang.

Su Yang raised his eyebrows in confusion, and asked in a low and dangerous voice, “Why are you suddenly acting so passionately toward me? Are you attracted to women? Oh~ Could it be that you’re afraid you will start liking them more because of my female disguise?”

Gu Feidi gave a devilish smile. “On the contrary, I would have kissed you just then if you weren’t in your disguise.”

Su Yang didn’t know how he should feel about this sudden change.

Gu Feidi advanced closer and whispered in Su Yang’s ear, “You’d better keep wearing those outfits, or else…I don’t know how long I could hold back my desire during our time sharing a bed.”

Su Yang: “...”

How did the topic go in such a dangerous direction?

Su Yang silently shut his mouth as he sat away from Gu Feidi and no longer wanted to continue this ambiguous midnight conversation.

“Actually…” Gu Feidi then suddenly brought up. “...I was fourteen when I learned I prefer men over women.”

Su Yang was speechless. Inside his chaotic head: What is Gu Feidi doing? Is he going to talk about his life story where he realised his sexual orientation during his puberty?

But instead, what Gu Feidi said next was, “So you don’t have to worry about me loving women. If the ‘lady’ in front of me wasn’t you, I won’t even look them right in the eyes. Now, do you feel more at ease?”

Su Yang snapped, “I was never worried about this in the first place!”

Gu Feidi smiled softly, as he raised his finger and caressed Su Yang’s face gently. “Let’s rest then.”

With that, he really closed his eyes under Su Yang’s angry glare and began to meditate.

With no options, Su Yang could only sit with the other man and meditate as well.

The next morning, Gu Feidi came out of the room with Su Yang and immediately drew everyone’s attention.

Gu Feidi blocked Su Yang’s figure from the crowd on impulse. As he helped Su Yang down the stairs, Su Yang, being the cooperative one, shortened his steps. They slowly walked out of the inn’s entrance together. Once they were out, Gu Feidi went to get the horses and assisted Su Yang on to his horse.

Out of nowhere, someone outside the inn’s shed immediately scolded, “Hey, I say this young friend. Your wife is so delicate. Why are you making her ride on the horse? I can tell you’re not poor by your appearance. Why not rent a carriage?”

People chimed in right away:

“That’s right! She will be exposed to the harsh elements. The little lady’s skin is so delicate. Unlike us rough men. I urge you not to injure her!”

“And looking at this horse, it does not have a gentle temperament. What if your wife can’t control it…”

“If a carriage is not an option, why don’t you ride with your wife? You can watch over her that way.”

Gu Feidi: “...”

Su Yang could barely contain his laughter, as he took a quick peek at Gu Feidi with an adorable smirk.

This kind of charming and graceful glance and smirk made everyone around suck in a breath, making a loud sound similar to that of an air conditioner.

Gu Feidi ignored the noise made by the crowd, as he reined in the horse and said, “Let’s go.”

Su Yang raised an eyebrow, secured his two legs, clipped the horse's abdomen and skillfully commanded the horse to dash quickly away. Gu Feidi immediately followed to catch up, and the two quickly disappeared into the distance, leaving several saddened men.

“Tsk, this little lady was mystical and beautiful. Her horsemanship is also magnificent!”

“But she was taller than the average woman. Judging from her skill, she could rival the best son and daughter in the Jianghu. That young man is extremely blessed!”

“I wonder which sect the little lady is from. I wonder if she has any more female siblings…”

* * *

Gu Feidi and Su Yang travelled on the main road for half a day and found a tea stall to sit down and rest. After Mei Shisan caught up with them, they continued their journey.

After two days of riding, they finally arrived at Lanyang City, where the Tengyun Pavilion was located.

They would inevitably encounter more people who were more familiar with the Tengyun Pavilion the further south they travelled, so Gu Feidi had no choice but to wear a straw hat to hide his face.

Even so, the moment he stepped into the city, a hidden guard from his pavilion noticed him.

Fortunately, the well-trained guard could tell that his Young Lord was keeping low-key from their disguises. So, using his cover as a merchant, he approached with his goods.

“Oh, why doesn’t this guest have a look? Isn’t this perfect for your lady?” The guard brought over a large string of silk flowers. Once he was inches away from Gu Feidi, he quickly whispered, “This subordinate greets the Young Lord. If the Young Lord doesn’t want to expose his face, please follow this one to the head ornament store on Twelfth Street. A carriage will be prepared to take you back to the pavilion.”

Gu Feidi looked at Su Yang and requested after a moment’s silence, “My wife doesn't really like silk flowers, do you happen to sell jade hairpins?”

The guard instantly understood and smiled. “Of course, we sell many styles at the store. Please follow me!”

Gu Feidi led Su Yang and Mei Shisan all the way to the store on Twelfth Street and was directed to the room for honoured guests on the second floor to take a seat.

Followed by the shop owner, the workers and the guard saluted to Gu Feidi.

Su Yang, sitting beside Gu Feidi, was suddenly feeling a bit nervous—why does it feel like he was meeting the other’s family?

Everyone operating the shop was from the Tengyun Pavilion. Luckily, they were not close guards of the Young Lord, so no one saw him or recognised his face.

“Young Lord, it’s good that you returned. Although my Lord remained calm and collected on the outside, he has been worried about you all this time.”

The shopkeeper was a senior subordinate. He was not as wary when interacting with Gu Feidi, almost like a family elder.

He shifted his attention to Su Yang and added, “Miss Pu returned to the pavilion some time ago. With both of you home safely, the Lord would surely be happy. However, I don’t know if this lady…was someone the Young Lord met along the way?”

Gu Feidi smiled brightly at Su Yang and asked, “Would you like to go back to the Tengyun Pavilion with me?”

This caught Su Yang completely off guard. Thinking about seeing the parents already? No, no, NO! That was too soon. He was not mentally prepared!

So he shook his head promptly, turning down the idea for now.

But Gu Feidi gave him a kicked-puppy look. “I have already been to your home, but you don’t want to see mine. I’m slightly hurt.”

Gu Feidi’s words had no effect on Su Yang, but it was a great shock to others around—What!? Their upright and strict Young Lord actually stayed at a lady’s house?!

“All right, since you don’t want to…” Gu Feidi smiled and turned to the store owner. “Go arrange for a room in the inn on Seventh Street for himIn Chinese, he/ she/ it (him/ her) sounds the same, only the Chinese characters on the paper are different. So they don’t know Gu Feidi was referring to Su Yang as he and not she. and temporarily station guards there. Please look after him for me, get whatever he needs and also provide lots of snacks for him as well.”

The shopkeeper, with a complicated expression, looked between ‘her’ and Gu Feidi, saying, “Young Lord, this…”

Gu Feidi asked with a raised eyebrow, “What is it?”

The shopkeeper stuttered, “This young lady…Young Lord you…this…this…”

Gu Feidi was enjoying this.

But the fun had to end eventually, so he informed Su Yang with a chuckle, “The inn on Seventh Street belongs to my pavilion. It has tight defences and is well guarded against assassins. I’ll send my most trusted guards to you, and you don’t need to worry about people deliberately making things difficult for you. You can drop your disguise now as well.”

Reading the signal from Gu Feidi’s eyes, Su Yang relieved his breath. “Thank you so much then.”

Folks from the Tengyun Pavilion: “!!!”

The store owner was shocked, “This lady…Er, this Young Hero…”

“This is my close friend who saved my life. If not for him, I would already be dead. You better not forget this.”

As Gu Feidi finished, he turned back to Su Yang. “It’s best for me to stop delaying my return. They will escort you and Shisan to the inn. Once I get things straightened out, I’ll come to find you. This shouldn’t take long, so please wait for me.”

Su Yang nodded. “Don’t worry. I’m not some frail and delicate lady, but a decently strong fighter.”

Gu Feidi patted Su Yang on the shoulder and solemnly said, “Keep the hairpin close to you. If I encounter any changes on my side…I’ll do my best to send news to you. No matter what, we can’t delay your trip to the snowy mountain for too long. It’s harder to travel once you enter the cold region because of your cold sickness…”

When cold sickness was brought up, he suddenly was at a loss for words. He continued after a pause, “I’ll work this through as fast as I can. If I encounter…any accident…I’ll request Yunzhan to go with you in my place. He…he at least holds some mutual friendship towards you. He at least would accept and complete my request from the bottom of his heart…”

Su Yang grinned, “What for? Stop making this out like we are to be parted forever. I’m not a kid anymore. I don’t need you to nag so much! Plus, I still have Shisan.”

Gu Feidi glanced at Mei Shisan and nodded, then looked back at Su Yang with a tender smile. “Please take care of yourself.”

Su Yang was unable to embrace Gu Feidi with an audience. He could only wave his hand and replied, “Same to you.”
